Another loss for Loyola

Wayne Hunter scored 15 of his career-high 22 points in the second half to lead St. Mary’s to a 69-54 victory over Loyola Marymount on Monday night at Moraga, Calif.

Diamon Simpson added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Gaels, 13-10 overall and 5-2 in the West Coast Conference.

Matthew Knight and Adoyah Miller had 17 points apiece for Loyola Marymount (9-14, 1-6), which failed to capitalize on momentum from Saturday’s 74-71 upset win over Santa Clara.

The Lions trailed the entire game against St. Mary’s, falling behind by as many as 16 en route to their ninth loss in 10 games since losing leading scorer Brandon Worthy to a knee injury.

The Gaels committed just eight turnovers for the game and limited Loyola Marymount to nine points over the final 9:30.

Santa Clara 77, Pepperdine 55 -- Scott Dougherty scored 14 points to lead six players in double figures for the Broncos in a WCC game at Santa Clara.

Brody Angley had 12 and Joey Kaempf 11 as the Broncos (15-7, 5-2) won their fourth in five games.

Kingsley Costain scored 13 to lead the Waves (6-17, 2-5), whose two-game winning streak came to an end.
