Delany may be a new ‘Housewife’

Dana Delany, the Emmy-winning actress best known as Colleen McMurphy on “China Beach,” may be moving to Wisteria Lane. TVGuide.com reports she is close to taking a role on “Desperate Housewives” as Katherine, an “attractive 38- to 45-year-old conservative Republican with an all-American wholesomeness and a mastery of passive aggressiveness.” She is also married to “the best-looking gynecologist in town.”

“Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry had originally sought Delany for the role of Bree (which instead went to Marcia Cross), and, according to the TV Guide report, this new character may end up being the long-lost sister of Bree.
