Holding forth on the handbag ruling

Re “A righteous handbag,” editorial, July 2

I find inspiring the final sentence of this editorial: “To the greatest extent possible, the law should avoid interfering in consensual agreements.” What a beautiful concept, perfect in its simplicity. And if the commodity is marijuana, or if one of the consenting parties happens to be a prostitute, this same standard would apply -- in a true “land of the free.”
