Bravo for that orchestral work
THROUGHOUT my entire career I have heard that the symphony is dead, the symphony orchestra is dead, classical music is dead, the audience is graying so this is the last generation. I guess that makes good “reading.”
Rarely does one see an article that disputes that like Mark Swed’s did [“Symphonic After All These Years,” June 24].
As long as there are people, there will be art, and artists will explore all forms at their disposal. One only needs to be in a position like mine, surrounded by hundreds of young artists daily, to realize the future for art music in general never looked brighter.
