Some Jeep, Dodge vehicles may stall
DaimlerChrysler’s Chrysler unit is recalling 2007 Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Nitro sport utility vehicles because an electrical part can cause engine stalling.
The recall involves 80,894 of the vehicles, said Max Gates, a spokesman for the Auburn Hills, Mich.-based automaker.
Chrysler is acting after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in May began an investigation of the problem in the Jeep Wrangler, Gates said. The agency received about 180 complaints involving that model and the Dodge Nitro, he said.
Motorists reported that most of the incidents occurred without warning while traveling at highway speeds, according to information on the agency’s website.
* About 68,000 shape-sorting toy castles, manufactured by Infantino, were recalled because a plastic rod holding plastic beads can come loose, allowing the beads to slide off of the toy. * About 42,000 Thermador built-in ovens, manufactured by BSH Home Appliances Corp., were recalled because gaps in the insulation could allow the ovens to overheat in self-cleaning mode and heat nearby cabinets. * About 3,000 hammock stands, imported by Algoma Net Co., were recalled because the frame’s foot brackets can crack and cause a person in the hammock to fall. The company has received 28 reports of cracked or torn foot brackets, including eight reports of falls. The recall affects stands with model numbers 6250, 6250BH and 6290W88B, which are written on the top of the instruction sheet included in the packaging. * About 800 Mag Stix magnetic building sets, distributed by Kipp Bros., were recalled because the magnets inside the plastic sticks could fall out and be swallowed by children. Multiple swallowed magnets can attract one another and cause intestinal perforation or blockage. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has received one report of a child who needed surgery to remove magnets and repair intestinal perforations.
