Ex-agent gets 2 years for immigrant smuggling

A former border patrol agent was sentenced Thursday to a two-year federal prison term for conspiring to smuggle illegal immigrants into the country.
Eric Balderas Jr., 26, conspired with another agent to smuggle more than 100 immigrants at a time while on patrol in an area east of Tecate, according to his plea agreement from December 2005.
