A horrible choice

Share

AS a horror movie fan, I am offended by Robert Abele’s review of “Captivity” [“Don’t Get Caught Dead in ‘Captivity,’ ” July 16], as he suggests that “charnel flick connoisseurs” do not care about logic or psychology in the movies they watch. This is absolutely untrue.

Furthermore, as a regular reader, I am upset with The Times for once again accepting a review from someone with an obvious distaste for the genre of the film they are reviewing. How is this useful? The readers who also dislike the genre already know to stay away from the movie, and the readers who appreciate the genre feel insulted.

Perhaps I should submit my review of “Ratatouille” to The Times: “This is just another in a long line of movies that degrade rodents. Why would a rat want to cook food for humans, who in turn consider him a pest and want to poison him? Of course, animation fans won’t care about this because they like anything with talking animals.”
