* New York 9, at Kansas City 2: Roger Clemens got his 351st win and Alex Rodriguez became the first player to reach 100 RBIs this season, helping the Yankees extend their winning streak to four. Hideki Matsui, Johnny Damon and Jorge Posada drove in two runs each for the Yankees, who have won nine of 11 and pulled within 5 1/2 games of Cleveland, the AL wild-card leader.

* at Toronto 6, Minnesota 4: Frank Thomas homered twice to raise his total to 503 and pull within one of Eddie Murray for 20th place as the Blue Jays sent Johan Santana to a rare second-half loss. Reed Johnson and Alex Rios added solo shots off Santana (11-8), who dropped to 41-6 after the All-Star game since the 2003 break.

* at Texas 8, Seattle 7: Sammy Sosa snapped out of an extended drought with home run No. 603 and five RBIs to rally the Rangers. Sosa’s three-run homer in the fifth broke a 3-3 tie and was his 15th this season -- one more than he had in 102 games for Baltimore in 2005 before sitting out last year.
