Rebel movement announces truce

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, the main militant group behind attacks on foreign oil installations, announced a one-month cease-fire, giving the new president a chance to resolve the crisis that has helped cause global crude prices to soar.
Last week, President Umaru Yar’Adua asked for a permanent cease-fire to allow for mediation.
