Ventura VA home to break ground

Share

The state Department of Veterans Affairs is holding a groundbreaking ceremony this morning for a long-awaited veterans home in Ventura.

The facility, first envisioned in 1990, will provide 60 beds for full-time residential care for the elderly and 50 beds for adult day-care services.

The ceremony, which is open to the public, will begin at 9 a.m. at 10900 Telephone Road, west of South Wells Road.

The three-building complex is designed so it can expand to eventually accommodate up to 400 beds.

The project is part of a $299.6-million, three-home project. The largest will be at the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs campus, and another satellite facility, similar to the Ventura complex, is planned for Lancaster, which had its groundbreaking Tuesday.
