Seimone Augustus scored her 1,000th point, reaching that mark in the second-fewest games in WNBA history, and the Minnesota Lynx won consecutive games for the first time this season Saturday night with an 83-58 victory over the Sparks.

Augustus finished with 12 points, including a basket in the lane in the second quarter to put her over 1,000 in her 46th game. Houston’s Cynthia Cooper did it in 45 games.

Kristen Mann scored 16 points and matched a career best with four three-point baskets for the Lynx, who started 1-9.

Minnesota had five players score in double figures.

“Seimone can’t be the only player with double figures and have nobody else like last year,” Lynx Coach Don Zierden said. “If we’re going to get where we need to go, and we understand it’s a long way, we’re going to need that balance.”

The Sparks’ three-game winning streak ended.

LaToya Thomas led the Sparks with 13 points, but playing consecutive road games, the team seemed to tire down the stretch.

“They came out ready to play, and we kind of had some mental breakdowns,” Thomas said. “Everybody has back-to-back games, so it’s not the fatigue. We just have to get it done.”

After missing its first four shots of the game, Minnesota led for much of the first half and held a four-point advantage at the break but could not pull away until the third quarter.

Nicole Ohlde scored 15 points and Svetlana Abrosimova had 14 for Minnesota.
