‘Big Dog’ sits on top of the chart

TOBY Keith is top dog on the national album chart with his new CD, “Big Dog Daddy,” which sold 204,000 copies its first week in stores. The album, the 12th by the Oklahoma native, features the country hit “High Maintenance Woman.”

Debuting at No. 2 this week is “From Nothin’ to Somethin’ ” from Brooklyn rapper Fabolous. The CD sold 159,000 copies and includes collaborations with Young Jeezy, T-Pain, Akon and Ne-Yo.

The next highest debut belonged to DJ Khaled and his “We the Best” at No. 8. The CD sold 79,000 copies and features the hit “Takin’ Over,” the product of a crowd of stars -- T.I., Akon, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Lil’ Wayne and Baby are all on the track.

There’s a very different crowd at No. 9 in the Traveling Wilburys, the storied collective of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne. The anthology from Rhino Records supplements the super-group’s two studio albums with bonus tracks and a DVD. The set sold 78,000 copies its first week.

At No. 14, it’s the Palm Desert band Queens of the Stone Age and their “Era Vulgaris,” which sold 52,000 copies. Right behind it at No. 15 is “Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur,” which sold 49,000, and features 23 performances of John Lennon songs by U2, Green Day, Avril Lavigne, R.E.M. and others to raise funds for Darfur relief efforts.
