Warped Tour

The 13th Warped Tour kicks off at 11 a.m. Friday at the Pomona Fairplex, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona. Tickets are $29.75. The tour continues at 11 a.m. Saturday at Seaside Park in Ventura.

Set times for acts at Warped are determined daily, by draw. Patrons are advised to arrive early to check the large message board for stage designations and set times.

Bad Religion

* The skinny: In the band’s 27th year, Greg Graffin, Bret Gurewitz and gang are older than most of the fans they’ll be playing for. But on its 14th album (quite possibly its best in several years), the quintet dips into its wellspring of menacing guitars and meaningful lyrics to show the kids how it’s done.

* The skinny: Proto-punk rendered by four young Eagle Rockers. The quartet’s shout-along anthems crackle with old-school agitation, and their very presence genuinely projects the genre’s DIY ethic.

Circa Survive

* Album: “On Letting Go” (Equal Vision, May 29)

* The skinny: The only band on this year’s Warped Tour and Coachella, Circa Survive makes aerated post-hard-core that hinges on the charisma of singer Anthony Green, the ex-Saosin vocalist. You buy into him, and the rest of the Philadelphia quintet is part of the package.

* The skinny: The Bay Area trio has outgrown its psychobilly roots, crafted a fourth album of breakneck rock and spawned legions of fans sporting its “TigerBat” logo.

* The skinny: The Florida expats who brought their violin-spiked pop-punk west seven years ago keep churning it out. Their forthcoming album feels almost like a singles collection, with singer Ryan Key’s adenoidal yearnings perfect for sorting out youth’s highs and lows.
