“Song of Singapore”: Stylish and silly, this mock “Casablanca” musical, set in WWII Singapore, delivers hot music and groan-worthy gags in equal proportion. With a nod to any number of moody, foreign-set movies -- but especially the iconic Humphrey Bogart-Ingrid Bergman film -- this loopy, lively show pitches every pun and every gag for maximum eye-rolling effect. But
the show’s truest reason for being: Seventeen faux-vintage songs in
just about every late-1930s, early ‘40s style you could care to name, performed with class.
-- Daryl H. Miller
Ends Sunday at the International City Theatre at Long Beach Performing Arts Center, 300 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach. (562) 436-4610.
