Concert hallmarks

RE “Segerstrom Hall: Mixed Reviews,” by Mike Boehm, March 9: The desire for beauty and sound superseded any desire for comfort. The criticisms mentioned about seating are not small defects; they are gigantic defects if you are the one with the poor view or the one who constantly has to stand up each time another patron walks in front of you to his seat.

It is possible that ticket sales will not diminish because people value being “seen” and will put up with great discomfort. The rest of us, to whom music is everything, will have to balance the discomfort with the desire to hear that beautiful music. On the other hand, my CDs may suffice, and if enough other people feel the same way, ticket sales will diminish.

THE Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall may not have the unique architecture of Disney Concert Hall, but for me, it is the sound that matters most, and the Segerstrom is far superior.
