Former Chicago official indicted

A former high-ranking Chicago official was indicted as part of a federal investigation of fraudulent city hiring and promotions.
A federal grand jury indicted Alfred Sanchez, 59, former streets and sanitation commissioner, on nine counts of mail fraud in a scheme prosecutors say lasted from 1994 to 2005.
