Teen charged as an adult in slaying of gang rival

A 16-year-old Washington Preparatory High School student was charged as an adult Tuesday in connection with the stabbing death of another student at the school last week.
Jesse Jonathan McDonald, 16, was charged with committing murder to further a criminal street gang, the district attorney’s office said.
He is being held on $1-million bail.
McDonald is accused of stabbing Alex Contreras, 17, during a fight Friday. Police said the two belonged to rival gangs.
