* at Tampa Bay 3, Oakland 2 (12 innings): Brendan Harris hit the game-winning single with two out. Ben Zobrist, who was in a one-for-25 slump, had a one-out infield single off Jay Marshall. He took second on a wild pitch and scored on Harris’ single down the right-field line.

* at Baltimore 8, Cleveland 2: Daniel Cabrera pitched seven innings of three-hit ball, and Ramon Hernandez homered and drove in four runs to lead the Orioles, who had gone 16 games without scoring more than seven runs.

* at Minnesota 2, Boston 1: The Red Sox left a runner in scoring position in each of the first six innings. Joe Nathan got the last four outs for his eighth save. Center fielder Torii Hunter ran down a long drive by David Ortiz for the second out in the ninth, and Nathan struck out Manny Ramirez to end it.

* Detroit 7, at Kansas City 5: Craig Monroe hit a tiebreaking two-run single in the eighth inning to give the Tigers their sixth consecutive victory. Magglio Ordonez had doubled home the tying run off Joaquim Soria in the eighth.

* at Texas 11, Toronto 4: Michael Young homered and had five RBIs, including a two-run double that keyed a six-run third inning off Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay, and the Rangers extended Toronto’s losing streak to five games. Halladay had lasted at least six innings in his first six starts.

* at New York 8, Seattle 1: Chien-Ming Wang carried his bid for a perfect game into the eighth inning before Ben Broussard homered with one out.

* Chicago 6, at Angels 3: Jon Garland, an 18-game winner the last two seasons, won for the first time this season.
