Tickets for the Bowers Museum of Cultural Art’s special exhibition of ancient artifacts from Xian, China, “Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China’s First Emperor” (May 18, 2008, to Oct. 12, 2008), will go on sale by June 5 and will have staggered arrival times, although the price has not yet been set, the museum said Tuesday.

The exhibition, which originated at the British Museum, will usher in a reduced general admission price at the Bowers, which in February became the highest on the West Coast when it rolled its special exhibitions and permanent galleries into one admission fee: $17 on weekdays and $19 on weekends for adults.

The yet-to-be-determined new general admission price will be “considerably lower,” said a museum spokeswoman.

“Terra Cotta Warriors,” featuring 20 complete life-size terra cotta figures and two half-size bronze chariots as well as life-size bronze animals found within the tomb complex of China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang (259 to 210 BC), will also travel to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
