Out of ‘The Loop’

IN “Bedeviled by Lack of Laughs” [Oct. 28] about the CW’s “Reaper,” Jon Caramanica writes that last year’s Fox comedy “The Loop” failed to win renewal. In fact, this very funny show did enjoy an all too brief second season.

Unfortunately, Fox had a change of heart after ordering new episodes and guaranteed failure by airing them, without promotion, after the official season ended during summer’s dog days. Too bad. A program as fresh and innovative as “The Loop” deserved better.

Isn’t it odd that a network once known for pushing the comedic envelope is now embracing the likes of “Back to You” and “‘Til Death,” two tired, old-fashioned, three-camera sitcoms, while the competition has all but abandoned this genre?
