Paola Turbay landed her first full-time series gig this season as Jimmy Smits’ wife on CBS’ “Cane” (10 p.m. Tuesdays), but her initial brush with fame came more than 12 years ago as first runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant. The former Miss Colombia was born in Houston but moved back to her family’s native country when she was 10. Turbay, 36, now lives in L.A. with husband Alejandro Estrada and their two children.

HAPPY TRAILS On a Friday afternoon we might go to the Sunset Ranch Hollywood Stables for a nice dinner horseback ride with a group of people. You ride over to Burbank, eat dinner at a Mexican restaurant, then ride back. It’s so much fun. The moon, the stars, it’s wonderful and very romantic. FAMILY TIME Saturday we’ll take the kids all over Will Rogers park , or we’ll go to the pier at Marina del Rey and rent bikes and cruise around. You get them good and tired out and then the adults can go out in the evening. Afterward we’ll have lunch -- maybe La Conversation on Doheny Drive north of Santa Monica Boulevard. We also like Barney’s Gourmet Burgers in Brentwood; my favorite is in pita bread with lettuce, avocado and feta cheese, with curly fries or the amazing onion rings. They have the best chocolate milkshakes! On Melrose Avenue is Le Pain Quotidien; everything is organic, and the bread and apple cider are great. ADULTS ONLY Comme Ca on Melrose is amazing. We just went for the first time. It’s like a French bistro with little cafe tables, and they have something really interesting: a cheese bar and wines from around the world. Everything’s very fresh -- it was an exquisite experience. GETTING A GROOVE ON I love to dance, and especially salsa. I’ve been to the Mayan, but I’ve never gotten there in time to dance, always too late. I know there are some places on Cahuenga Boulevard, like Mama Juana’s, that I’d love to try with my husband. I never have to drag him onto the dance floor -- he loves to dance too. What can I say, we’re Latin! NIGHTCAP If I’m in the mood for a martini, we’ll go to Lola’s on Fairfax Avenue, which is a real landmark in L.A.. They have a menu of over 50 martinis; my favorite is the Lychee. Cheers!
