Swivel in style

Share

In 1962, Dieter Rams, the industrial designer who put the German firm Braun on the map, created the 620 seating system. Made from a gently curved cubic metal shell with leather upholstery, the basic chair unit could be configured with casters or a swivel base or linked together to form settees and sofas. Now the seating system is being reissued by Vitsoe and made available to Southern Californians for the first time in more than 30 years. A low-back, swivel-base version is $6,381 with a white shell and brown leather cushions, shown here, or a black shell and black leather cushions. A high-back version is $7,179, and a matching footstool is $2,403. Available at Moss, 8444 Melrose Ave., L.A.; (323) 866-5260; www.mossonline.com.
