Actually, some do find it offensive
Re “A fence without offense,” Column One, Nov. 16
This article comes across as undiluted PR for the Border Patrol and gives the appearance that completing the border fence is a fait accompli. Currently, broad coalitions of church, community and governmental entities are challenging the construction of the fence and documenting its disastrous consequences on both sides of the border.
Any discussion of this issue should take into consideration the fence’s deep divisiveness as a symbol of nativism, a threat to the environment and its contribution to worsening relations with our neighbor to the south. It’s time that The Times provided some balance on this issue.
