Girl, 16, struck, killed by motorist
A teenage girl was struck and killed Tuesday night by a vehicle when she crossed a street in Van Nuys with her mother, authorities said Wednesday.
Yessenia Mayen, 16, was crossing the street near the corner of Woodley Avenue and Haynes Street about 10:20 p.m. when she was struck.
After the accident, the driver stopped, gave what help he could and waited for police to arrive, LAPD officials said. A police spokeswoman called the death a “horrible accident.”
