Teacher gets jail in teddy bear case
From Times Wire Reports
A Sudanese court convicted a British teacher of insulting Islam for letting her students name a teddy bear Muhammad, and sentenced her to 15 days in prison. Gillian Gibbons wept in court, insisting that she had not meant to offend anyone.
The defense said the case was sparked by a school secretary with a grudge. A school official denied earlier reports that a parent had complained. Gibbons, 54, was also ordered deported.
