The Sept. 28 Calendar featured a full-page color ad for the Showtime TV show “Dexter.” A grinning man, splattered with blood (I assume), was featured with the slogan, “The return of America’s favorite serial killer.”

If I subscribed to Showtime, I’d cancel.

I’m not going to cancel my subscription to The Times, but I thought about it.

I don’t find the ad funny, cute, amusing, trendy or anything other than stomach-turning. It’s sick, and a lot of other adjectives that I’d just as soon not use in a polite letter.
