Not only do house heads love Dutch DJ Sander Kleinenberg (pictured), but the 10th edition of the Ibiza DJ Awards recently showered him with best tech/progressive DJ honors. When he jets in for Saturday’s set at Avaland, don’t be surprised if he drops in his remix of Justin Timberlake’s “Rock Your Body” near the end of his set. . . . The sizzle continues for Hollywood nightspot the Green Door, open two months now. Former Tribe Called Quest member Q-Tip pulled off an impromptu DJ set there, with Orlando Bloom and others taking it in. . . . Light a candle: Downtown’s J Lounge made it through its first year. . . . After several months of renovation, Vin Bar is ready to start serving up Cabernets to future sommeliers. Located inside Santa Monica’s respected Valentino restaurant, Vin is intimate, seating about 25 patrons. . . . Tongues are already wagging about SBE’s upcoming venture in West Hollywood, Foxtail. Located in between Dan Tana’s restaurant and the Troubadour in the former Lobby supper club (9077 Santa Monica Blvd.), the spacious bar is sure to be among the hottest in town when it opens in January -- well, surely hotter than SBE’s Privilege, now officially shuttered. . . . The jury’s still out on Crash Mansion, the new downtown space (1024 S. Grand Ave.), but the venue’s Thursday night promotion Hybrid is off to a good start. Tonight, the Mutaytor brings its firey show. . . . And if you need some general feel-goodness, Rocky Dawuni is your man. Tonight’s installment of Afro Funke at the Temple Bar features not only a live set by the Ghanaian star, but a screening of a documentary of Dawuni and Elle Macpherson visiting AIDS clinics in his native country.
