The redshirt junior set a school record with five touchdown passes, and the No. 25 Tigers capped a busy week with a 49-26 victory over Louisiana Monroe.
Clemson opened 2-0 for the second time in three seasons after Monday night’s 24-18 win over Florida State followed by the rout of the Warhawks.
Harper, who completed 20 of 26 passes for 270 yards against Louisiana Monroe, led the way in both games.
He has competed 34 of 50 passes for 430 yards with seven touchdowns and no interceptions.
Harper sat behind Charlie Whitehurst and Will Proctor the last three seasons. His performance Saturday put him ahead of all other quarterbacks in Clemson history.

Harper tied the school’s single-game mark in the first half to give Clemson a 28-10 lead. Bobby Gage set the record in 1947, and it had been matched by four players.
It took him one attempt to set the record. He lofted a perfect pass to C.J. Spiller along the left sideline that the sophomore caught for a 68-yard scoring play.
