Typhoon: In Wednesday’s Section A, an article about Typhoon Wipha said the deadliest storm to hit China was Typhoon Winnie, which claimed 236 lives in 1997. Typhoon Saomai killed 441 people in 2006, the Chinese Embassy in Washington said that year.
