Re “The ‘Long Beach Way,’ ” editorial, Sept. 19
Long Beach schools ended social promotion. What a novel concept to actually have students at grade level so they can learn. This can’t help but cut the dropout rates. More students mean more money from the state under average daily attendance rules. Why did it take 45 years to do the obvious?
