A man arrested on suspicion of operating an illegal drug lab in his home has been released on bail, police said Friday.
Stefan Schmiedberg, 37, was taken into custody Thursday after a joint investigation by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and Los Angeles Police Department uncovered chemicals, glassware and hardware that could be used to make ecstasy, said Officer Kate Lopez, an LAPD spokeswoman.
No drugs were found at the home in the 20700 block of Martha Street, Lopez said.
“The lab wasn’t active, and everything was boxed up in the garage,” she said.
Officers arrived at the home about 2 p.m. Thursday, Lopez said. The owner gave officers permission to enter and search the home, she said.
