Teachers’ taxes

Re “Bill to aid teachers questioned,” April 5
Isn’t it time for teachers to take care of themselves? One legislator in Sacramento wants to help those teachers who got caught in the payroll fiasco in the Los Angeles Unified School District, proposing that the district pay the taxes on its overpayments to teachers. He means the taxpayers, doesn’t he? I know how much I earn each year and what taxes I owe. What makes it any different for teachers than it is for me, if my employer messes up?
It’s called accountability by the employee.
