Some vroom in the garden

Old car parts can be rusty, ugly and useless, unless they’re in the hands of garden artist Tahereh Sheerazie. Set among the ceramic and wood containers in her Pasadena garden are some well-worn discards -- disc brakes, an aluminum coil, a radiator from her daughter’s Volvo -- all reborn as plant containers. “People think I’m some kind of New Age mechanic, but I’m a big recycler,” says Sheerazie, who recently turned a truck muffler cover into a pot. “The plants reflect the shape and form of the metal objects.” She sells her containers for $65 to $600.
