The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan and Iraq:

Anthony M. Carbullido, 25, of Agat, Guam; petty officer second class, Navy. Carbullido was killed Aug. 8 when his convoy vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Sangatesh in western Afghanistan’s Badghis province. He was assigned to the Naval Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Ill.

Michael H. Ferschke Jr., 22, of Maryville, Tenn.; sergeant, Marine Corps. Ferschke was shot to death Aug. 10 during a house search in Iraq’s Salahuddin province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Okinawa, Japan.

Kenneth B. Gibson, 25, of Christiansburg, Va.; sergeant, Army. Gibson was killed Aug. 10 in a suicide bomb attack that also killed at least three Iraqi soldiers and 14 others in Tarmiya, Iraq, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

James M. Hale, 23, of Naperville, Ill.; corporal, Army. Hale was killed Wednesday when his vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 978th Military Police Company at Ft. Bliss, Texas.

John A. Mattox, 23, of Daingerfield, Texas; private, Army. Mattox died of noncombat-related injuries Aug. 10 at Forward Operating Base Bostick in northeastern Afghanistan’s Kunar province. He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 4th Cavalry, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Daniel A.C. McGuire, 19, of Mashpee, Mass.; private first class, Marine Corps. McGuire was killed Thursday when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire near Fallouja, Iraq, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Adam T. McKiski, 21, of Cherry Valley, Ill.; corporal, Marine Corps. McKiski was one of two Marines killed Aug. 7 when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb near Fallouja, Iraq, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Maintenance Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Stewart S. Trejo, 25, of Whitefish, Mont.; corporal, Marine Corps. Trejo was one of two Marines killed Aug. 7 when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb near Fallouja, Iraq, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Maintenance Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Jose E. Ulloa, 23, of New York; sergeant, Army. Ulloa died Aug. 9 of injuries suffered a day earlier when his vehicle struck a roadside bomb in the Sadr City area of northeastern Baghdad. He was assigned to the 515th Transportation Company, 28th Transportation Battalion in Mannheim, Germany.
