“Vanities, a New Musical,” which is having its pre-Broadway run at the Pasadena Playhouse Aug. 29 through Sept. 28, has set a February opening date in New York.

The show, with book by Jack Heifner and music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum, will begin performances Feb. 2 at a Shubert theater to be announced. The official opening will take place later that month.

The musical, which was originally produced at TheatreWorks in Palo Alto in 2006, is based on Heifner’s play “Vanities,” which traces the lives of three Texas women from their teens in the 1960s through the late 1980s. It ran for five years off-Broadway and has been in several regional theaters.
