U.S. diplomat escapes attack

Police say the top U.S. diplomat in Peshawar escaped a gun attack this morning on an American Consulate vehicle in Pakistan’s volatile northwest.
Riaz Khan, a police official, said Lynne Tracy, the principal officer for the U.S. Consulate in the North-West Frontier Province capital, was “100% safe” after the attack.
The U.S. Embassy said only that there was a security incident involving three consulate employees.
