Beating victim dies at hospital
An Ecuadorean immigrant viciously beaten by men who yelled anti-Latino and anti-gay slurs at him and his brother died while his mother was en route from Ecuador to see him.
Jose Sucuzhanay died late Friday, hospital spokesman Francisco Moya said. Sucuzhanay, 31, had been in critical condition since the Dec. 7 assault. Police were searching for three suspects in the attack.
Sucuzhanay and his brother were walking arm-in-arm when a vehicle pulled up near them, police said. Witnesses said men in the car shouted slurs, then jumped out and attacked.
