Teacher guilty of molesting girl
A junior high school teacher was convicted Wednesday of molesting a student, officials said.
Daniel Axtell of Santa Ana pleaded guilty to six felony counts of lewd acts on a 14-year-old child, one felony count of sexual penetration by foreign object of a minor and one felony count of first-degree burglary, according to a statement from the Orange County district attorney’s office.
Axtell, 38, met the girl while teaching at Talbert Middle School in Huntington Beach. Between April and June of 2005, he had a sexual relationship with the girl.
In one hotel, Axtell allegedly drew a heart around his and the girl’s names, which he had written in the back of a closet, according to authorities.
Axtell will be sentenced in March 2009.
