Man collapses and dies while hiking in Topanga State Park
A man collapsed and died Friday while hiking in Topanga State Park.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said a woman called 911 shortly after 5 p.m. to report that her male companion had collapsed while they were hiking near the Avenida Oriente Fire Road.
Humphrey said it took firefighters nearly 45 minutes to find the man because of darkness and heavy brush.
Humphrey said that when rescuers reached the man, he was unconscious. Rescuers tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Humphrey said the man was fully clothed and had no obvious signs of trauma.
The cause of death is under investigation.
