Teen is charged in fatal shooting
A 17-year-old boy was charged Friday with murder in the shooting death of a 34-year-old county public health specialist, authorities said.
The suspect’s name has not been released because he is a minor, but prosecutors have asked that he be tried as an adult.
The boy is accused of gunning down Christopher O’Leary, 34, on a street near his Highland Park home on Jan. 20 while walking to the store. Police have released no details on a possible motive.
O’Leary’s work included helping to launch two health campaigns aimed at preventing sexually transmitted diseases.
