Egypt is said to seal border

RAFAH, GAZA STRIP — Egyptian forces began closing the border with the Gaza Strip today, stemming the flow of Palestinians across the frontier breached by Hamas militants last month, witnesses reported.
The Egyptians brought barbed wire and metal barricades to the only remaining gap in their side of the border.
Since it was opened Jan. 23, Hamas has been under pressure from Egypt to stop the movement of hundreds of thousands of Gazans who have crossed the border to stock up on vital goods.
Reuters staffers at the border said the Egyptian forces closed the gap, but allowed Palestinians and Egyptians to return to their homes.
