The Obama mystique
As a 60-year-old white woman, I am in a demographic group in which many supposedly support New York Sen. Hillary Clinton. I am not supporting her. Instead, I’m voting for Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, who opposed the war in Iraq from the beginning and does not give me the impression that he will do or say anything just to get elected.

Obama began his campaign proudly announcing that his monetary support came from individual contributions of small amounts. He was the candidate for change. Now that he has garnered the support of one of the most establishment, extreme liberals in Congress, and presumably all the financial support his compatriots can provide, I wonder whether Obama can legitimately claim the populist label. He now has been embraced by the same establishment he claims an intent to combat.
