Re: “The Ranch, Refined,” Jan. 24: Though this project may have metamorphosed significantly over its 20-odd years of gestation, it appears that issues of sustainability may have been omitted from the dialogue. Unfortunately, over that 20-year period, it’s an issue that has become increasingly pivotal to any responsible discussion of genuine modernism, regardless of whether it is being discussed as a style or a way of living.

Thank you for your article on the Sharpe residence by Zoltan Pali. But I found the photos disappointing. I’m sure there were beautifully articulated features in the kitchen, baths, etc. -- items of much interest. Yet of the 12 photos online, so many were wasted on close-ups of wine bottles, tabletops and undersides -- boring. Shots of the kitchen and master bath would have been much more interesting.
