A Broad base of support

ARTIST 1. Eric Fischl was all smiles at LACMA’s opening celebration of the Broad Contemporary Art Museum on Feb. 9, where the glitterati -- Tom! Katie! -- came out in droves. But the true VIPs of the night: billionaire philanthropist 2. Eli Broad and wife Edythe, whose $60-million donation gave the Los Angeles County Museum of Art a much-needed home for contemporary art. Guests, decked out in gowns and tuxes, peeped 200 works from postwar artists, including Jeff Koons, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and 3. Cindy Sherman, who toasted her inclusion with former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne. When 4. Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman weren’t busy looking at the cameras, they checked out controversial artist Damien Hirst’s pieces, which included a sheep in formaldehyde. Still, that did not stop them -- or fellow art lovers Owen Wilson, Anjelica Huston, Rita Wilson, Tom Ford and Steve Martin -- from indulging in Wolfgang Puck’s three-course meal.

The crowd that thinks visually

Amy Winehouse and Kanye West weren’t the only ones to win big on Grammy night. Across town at the Kodak Theatre, 7. Steven Spielberg picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Visual Effects Society Awards. Also collecting accolades at the ceremony: the Spielberg-produced flick “Transformers,” with four wins. The film’s star, 8. Megan Fox, flashed back on the red carpet before introducing two tribute reels to the night’s honoree, while her director, 9. Michael Bay, teasingly told the crowd that Spielberg’s next film, the fourth Indiana Jones installment, would, uh, not be good. Oh, no, he di’nt! Spielberg hopped back onstage to defend himself. Attendees included Patton Oswalt and Brad Bird.

A lunchtime delivery

At the NAACP Image Awards nominee luncheon on Feb. 9, guests celebrated with champagne and cocktails, served from Lucite-covered FedEx boxes. Guess we know who sponsored the swanky Beverly Hills Hotel affair. Last year’s winner, 5. Chandra Wilson, left, who is up for best supporting actress in a drama honors again this year, said “cheese” alongside model Eva Pigford. Another pair of pretty posers: hosts 6. Tisha Campbell-Martin, left, and Tichina Arnold. The former “Martin” costars hammed it up for the crowd of nominees, including Tracee Ellis Ross, James Pickens Jr., Hill Harper, Tia Mowry and best new artist nominee J. Holiday, who ended the diversity-promoting event with a three-song set.
