Award against Wyeth is reduced

From Times Wire Services

Wyeth pharmaceutical company won a Nevada state court order slashing by more than half a $134.1-million jury award to three women who claimed the company’s mishandling of its menopause drugs caused their breast cancers.

The court reduced the award in the much-watched case to about $57.6 million, including $35 million in punitive damages.

Doug Petkus, a Wyeth spokesman, said the case still was “fraught with error” and the company would appeal to the Nevada Supreme Court.
