Electric heaters pose fire hazard
About 152,000 Chinese-made portable electric heaters sold at Wal-Mart and other U.S. retail stores have been recalled because they can overheat and melt plastic parts, posing a fire hazard, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
The heaters, made by Aloha Housewares Inc., were sold from August 2006 through November 2007. The recall includes oscillating heaters with “Aloha Breeze” printed on the top and with model number 02044 and date codes 06/06, 06/07, 06/08 or 06/09. Consumers should stop using the heaters and call Aloha at (800) 295-4448 for a replacement.
About 64,000 Cinderella 12-volt electric ride-on toy cars, made by Dumar International USA, were recalled because the wires under the hood and in the battery compartment under the seat can short-circuit. Dumar has received 40 reports of overheating incidents. The cars were sold at Wal-Mart stores from August 2005 through February 2006. Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 16,365 Murano and Infiniti EX 35 sport utility vehicles to fix a software program that can cause passenger air bags to fail. The recall affects 11,511 Muranos from model year 2009 and 4,854 Infiniti EX35s from 2008. The air bags may fail to inflate in a crash because of incorrectly programmed software, increasing risk of injury.
