The J. Paul Getty Museum drew 1,265,000 people in 2007, ranking it 30th in worldwide art museum attendance and seventh in the United States, according to an annual survey by the Art Newspaper.
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art -- which charges for admission, unlike the gratis Getty -- drew 667,200, good for 54th worldwide and 16th nationally.
Excluding the Getty’s freebies, the top-drawing L.A. show was “Magritte and Contemporary Art: The Treachery of Images,” attracting 1,542 a day to LACMA.
