Oracle gets approval to acquire BEA

Oracle Corp. won regulatory approval for its $8.5-billion acquisition of rival software maker BEA Systems Inc.
The Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission cleared the purchase, Redwood Shores, Calif.-based Oracle said Wednesday.
BEA, based in San Jose, is a leading provider of “middleware,” coding that helps business software interact with databases.
BEA shareholders will vote on the deal at a special meeting April 4.
