Law in Israel
Re “Struggle rooted in land,” Column One, Dec. 27
The Times offers the mind-set of Jordan Valley farmers as they strive to keep lands coveted by the “mayor” of nearby Jewish settlements.
The mayor in question, despite a ruling from the Israeli Supreme Court, said, “We can build wherever we want.” What possible morality rules this mind-set -- that thievery and forceful skirting of Israeli and international law is allowed because God says so?
Does the law rule in Israel, or is Zionism the true law?
