POWER PLAYS

True, we’ve got Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, but for the most part, these anticlimactic January days don’t exactly scream “revolution” or much of anything at all. REDCAT wants to change that with “All Power to the People: The History and Legacy of the Black Panther Party.” The program begins with news footage (pictured) and includes screenings of “The Murder of Fred Hampton,” about the charismatic leader of the Illinois chapter; “Legacy of Torture,” a chronicle of the San Francisco 8 case; and locally focused gang doc “Bastards of the Party.” 7:30 tonight-Sat., REDCAT, downtown L.A. $9. www.redcat.org
